Day 31: Reading Partner

So, as I have previously mentioned I am volunteering with a non-profit called Reading Partners that pairs you with a student that is behind in their reading skills.  Reading effects so much of a child's education and future and it is important to catch these kids up at a young age.

My little guy I will be working with is named Emmett. He is an absolutely adorable 10 year-old boy with eyelashes that curl so much the ends almost touch his eyelids.  He told me he is a "modeler" and his mom is getting him a fashion job soon.  I didn't ask questions because I don't want him to think that is cool.  Reading is cool.  He said that he wants to be an FBI agent Go, Emmett!) and then retire as a model. Lol.  During our getting to know each other activities he asked me what my favorite book was (great question!) and also if my mom or dad were dead....kids these days? I don't know.  He's a bit feisty and stubborn/lazy and has a real problem listening when anyone speaks.  He's a little bit of a brat.  We should get along just fine.

I am loving all the mail I have been getting and have been decorating Morris' fridge with all your beautiful faces (:
