RAMBO!

One of the best parts about having one of the greatest cities in the world in my backyard is that people actually come to visit.  Jessica, aka Rambo, knew a few people in New York and came to visit last month.  Rambo and I met at work when she was 15.  I was never a huge troublemaker but I do hold some responsibility for corrupting this sweet little angel (ha!). I adopted her as my little sister and did big sister things for her like buying her alcohol and smoking with her in the bushes in the park. I can remember talking to her about how long it would be, and how old I would be, by the time she was legally able to drink.

Well, I am old now and her first night here I joined her and a couple friends at an empty little bar where we made up half of the crowd.  The bartender hooked us up and we ended up having a great first night.

I took her to one of my favorite places, Washington Square Park which is in the heart of NYU.  We had lunch at a place nearby and sat on the patio.  It was a lovely day, the burger was delicious, and the servers were almost as delicious as the food.

There is something about summer in the city and ice cream.  The temptation is certainly everywhere with ice cream carts lining the streets and popping up in parks.  And there is also something about a popsicle that makes you feel care-free and young.  We decided to go all out and get the Spiderman and Spongebob popsicles, they did not disappoint.  The eyeballs are gum! We sat in the grass and enjoyed the snack before I had to head to work.

On my day off I was able to meet up with Rambo and take her to the Highline.  Another one of my favorite spots, and definitely top on my list for visitors because it is fairly new.  Before we made our way to the elevated urban park we grabbed some slices from Artichoke.  We could have been an advertisement for the restaurant because as we sat there stuiffing our faces everyone stared and about three people asked where we got them.  Sooooo good.  I recommend the namesake artichoke slice.

It's starting to seem like all we did was eat, which....is basically true. We couldn't pass up the ice cream sandwiches!

After a visit to Jersey and hanging at my place for the afternoon we made our way back into the city and met up with her friend Ashley, also from Arizona.

It was so good having you here, Rambo! Come back anytime, I miss you and love you!
