Day 136: May the odds be ever in your favor

M met me at the movies after I got off of work tonight and we saw The Hunger Games.  I took this as a very loving sacrifice on his part and the fact that he only snickered at a few parts was also truly appreciated.  I thought it was a good movie, I can't tell what I would think of the movie had I not read the book first.  It has been a while since I read the book and I have an awful memory so I didn't notice if it was true to all the details or not.  I liked most of the characters but I hate Peeta so much.  And I know you are supposed to hate that one big bad guy, the blonde "career" whose name I forget, but I think they could have chose a better actor for his part.  I love Jennifer Lawrence.  I super love Miley Cyrus' boyfriend.  And of course, I love Lenny Kravitz.  Stanley Tucci and Woody Harrelson were perfect for their roles as was Elizabeth Banks who had totally awesome costumes.  I am going to go ahead and predict a lot of Effies walking around on October 31.

I still need to read the second and third book but I have been reading a couple of travel books by a really funny, awesome author named Maarten Troost.  He is Dutch, so naturally, he is a badass.  The first book I read was called The Sex Lives of Cannibals.  I still don't get the title.  But it is a true story about him and his girlfriend moving to a tiny island in the South Pacific where they lived for two years.  The current book I am reading by him is called Lost in Planet China about his adventures in the befuddling country.  His next book is called Getting Stoned With Savages which are his adventures in Fiji, but I am going to save that for later.  I currently have Frankenstein, Girl With a Dragon Tattoo, The Namesake, Unnaccustomed Earth, Interpreter of Maladies, and Don't Get Too Comfortable sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read.

That is the best part of the subway.  Reading time.
