I am back to NYC today! The good part about a 6:30 am flight and making your mom wake up at 4:30 am is that I slept most of the flight. Exhaustion trumped comfort and because the girl next to me was kind of annoying I instantly put on my eye mask and didn't take it off until we hit the ground in Charlotte, North Carolina. I had just enough time at that airport to decide not to eat at Stock Car Cafe and some crazy Chicken and Biscuit place and have a nice cup of broccoli cheddar soup and a bagel from a deli counter. The flight from NC to NYC was about 90 minutes. And because I only slept an hour and a half the night before I tried closing my eyes again but I only got to daydream mode.
I took a shuttle from Newark to Laguardia because my bag would have been a bitch to carry on the stairs for the trains, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have made it judging by Morris' face when he was carrying it. My sweet man met me at Laguardia to help me with my bags on the way home.
Since I left before Christmas there were presents waiting under the tree begging to be unwrapped, so we dug right in! We had a great Christmas together and I loved all my gifts. He pays a lot of attention and they were all very thoughtful.
After gifts we went to Katz's Delicattesen, The Best New York Deli since 1888 (although I am sure that is arguable). People pile in all day long for the famous pastrami sandwiches. I have never had pastrami and was delightfully surprised at how tasty it is. They also make their own pickles which were amazing but so juicy that our leftovers leaked on me on the train and I smelled like dill the rest of the night. We happened to get to sit in the exact table where the famous scene from When Harry Met Sally was filmed. I was pretty tickled (:
