After that we walked to Central Park and soaked up some vitamin D, strolled through the paths admiring the newly blooming daffodils, then laying on the warm flat sprawl of rock and watching the bluejays and squirrels. In New York City. This is why I love Central Park. This is why it has been for a long time, and will remain to be, one of my favorite places in the works. It's more than a park. It's relief. It's reconnecting. It's physical. It's natural. It's magic. The Park takes you outside the city in the city. We cuddled and relaxed and then bundled up in our coats again as the sun went down a d we walked to his parents house to say hello. They were very happy to see us, especially Ginger.
That evening, back in Astoria, we went to Cafe Triskell where we split a ham and Swiss crepe which...omg. So damn good, I want it everyday. Then we waited and waited and finally received our asparagus and pesto risotto and I was a bit annoyed at the lengthy process, high price, and small portion. However, one bite...that's all it took and all I felt was grateful that someone made me this delicious, special, wonderful dish. We shared it and fought over who got the last bite, "no, go ahead, you can have it..."' "oh no I must insist, it is all yours", before deciding to split it in half. I'm glad we're so smart. After we had paid for the check, refusing dessert because we had some guests by the name Ben and Jerry waiting for us at home, our server asked if we could stay for a pre-dessert that was already being prepared for us. After a minute he brought us a slice of heaven. It was do amazingly perfect and light and crispy on the edges and fluffy and delicious with a hint of butter and sugar. It was a dream, reminiscent of my childhood ways of pancakes with butter and sugar. I must return!
At home we watched Today's Special, a hilarious movie that takes place in a neighborhood near me. It's on Instant Netflix.
