Day 69: Snow!

Well, Morris told me it would happen.  He told me when I went to bed last night taht I would be waking up to snow.  At about 9 in the morning he said to me in bed, "I know that sound..." I didn't hear anything, I must be getting used to filtering out all these NYC noises, but M said it was the snow plow and we ran to the window adn what did we see? White stuff! Everywhere! It was fantastic!

We went to breakfast at Bareburger which I cannot wait to take my parents to when they come visit.  It is decorated really awesome with bears and stuff, my dad will love it.  I had the carrot cake french toast and M had chicken and waffles.  Both were delicious but I won.  M had the carrot cake french toast at this place when I was visiting in the summer so I already knew it would be amazing and I was not disappointed.

I had so much fun walking in the snow, things seemed quieter and slower and there were people outside enjoying it, and other people outside scowling as they shoveled their driveways...the glory of apartment living (: no sidewalks to shovel.  I even ran a cross a little snow angel on the sidewalk and some kids doing their best with the 4-6 inches to build a little snowman.

We had a gloriously lazy day after breakfast, I took a nap and M played his Xbox and he woke me up in the afternoon so we could go meet his friend and coworker in the city.  Brian and his wife, Jamie, have a beautiful apartment, so homey and cozy and we hung out at their place for a while then went to get some Persian food nearby at a restaurant called Ravagh.  The food was so good that I forgot to take pictures before I ate it all.  We had a Mediterranean salad and beef and chicken kebab with sour cherry rice on the side.  The food and company were both fantastic.

Afterwards we headed back to Astoria and stopped in Omonia Cafe, which specializes in desserts and coffe with a kind of Euro techno club vibe.  It is interesting.  It is a great to place to meet at night to socialize if you don't want to go to a bar and drink but you still want to feel like you are out and have a life.  The deessert was good, I had a chocolate mousse with caramel, but next time I will go for the plain chocolate cake that looked to die for.
