M and I went to MoMA today. I went a couple years ago and wanted to see it again and he wanted to see the Diego Rivera exhibit. How did I find such a cultured straight man? It's been great spending some quality time with him, been kind of a crazy week.
The Diego Rivera exhibit was really great, featuring a collection of murals made specifically for MoMA in the 1930s along with a couple paintings and some amazing sketches.
I also really enjoyed the Design exhibits and really geek out over Eames' chairs and Brandt's teapots. It's so awesome to see firsthand the items I studied in college. Kinda like when I saw a Noguchi coffee table in the living room of a friend's mom and instantly dropped to my knees to get up close and personal with it.
I'm so lucky to be here and be just a train ride away from amazing art and culture and everything you can imagine. Except palm trees and cacti.
We had a yummy lunch at Hale and Hearty Soups, I highly recommend the Mac n' cheese chili. We also went to Washington Square Park, saw a bunch of drunk college kids dressed up for SantaCon, and had some lemon sorbet, despite temperatures on the 30s. Good day!
