Today I went to an orientation for a nonprofit I'm volunteering with called Reading Partners. Its a program for struggling readers in low-income communities to get one-on-one instruction. They also get to bring books home with them to keep, so if anyone has a pile of children's books laying around then send them my way! Follow the link to learn more about the program.

I will be spending 45 minutes twice a week with a fourth grader named Emmett. I am so stoked to meet him next Tuesday. I hope he watches Arthur so we'll have something to talk about. Kristen and i used to watch Days of Our Lives and Arthur after school. That little a-a-r-d-v-a-r-k (i hope someone understands that reference) will always be close to my heart. In fact, I caught an episode today while mending some gloves and sewing buttons back on things. I'm so domestic.
We both had my chili for lunch, it's deliciously spicy and I can't figure out why which means it's not likely that I'll ever be able to recreate it.
I also looked up a bunch of stuff I want to do in NYC and found free or donation days for most museums. I also looked up how to be part of the audience for different shows and I will be seeing Stephen Colbert tomorrow! But before that I get to visit the WTC Memorial.
I asked Morris this morning if he would want to go to the gym tonight. I did that on purpose to try and commit but as soon as it gets dark I get real lazy. I mean, even more so than normal. But now I mentioned that and he told me we don't have to go if I don't want to, so now I'm in a real pickle.
Also, there's not a lot of pictures from today. So I'm including one of me and my favorite beanie which was given to me by my favorite artist, Mr. Sticky Shaw.
